Extra, Extra! Storage Units Offer Spacious Options When You Don’t Have Room At Home

Let’s face it, we all wish we had extra room. To have less clutter at home, to store extra furniture, or to be more efficient by organizing business equipment to make your living space, well, more livable! Until you renovate, get a bigger home or move into an office space, there is a more affordable option to get that extra storage room without having to relocate!

Medium-Sized Storage Unit to Store Content of a One-Bedroom Apartment

declutte living space with storageDid you know that a 10’ x 10’ can fit the entire contents of a typical one-bedroom apartment? And yes, that includes major appliances such as a washer, dryer, refrigerator and furniture like a mattress and a couch! Depending on the size of your furniture your packing skills, you may also fit in an heirloom piece like a grandfather clock or couple of antique chests and cabinets.

A generously-sized space, a 10 X 10 unit is ideal for storing needs in-between moves that will require renting a space for a month or longer. It is also a convenient solution for businesses that have out grown their current storage capacity or are home-based requiring a more efficient way to organize and access their business equipment.

Affordable Storage Solutions for Businesses

Considered a medium-sized option in most facilities, a 10×10 self-storage unit offers a quick and easily accessible option for businesses to store extra supplies, boxes of paperwork, or bulky equipment. From home-based event planners to contractors who service a wide service area, vendors enjoy the convenience of having a centrally located space that is manageable in terms of organizing and rental rates.

Space for Event & Party SuppliesWedding vendor decor

Event vendors have to keep up with the latest fads. Which means their list of supplies is always growing. Inflatable fun like bounce houses, Chiavari Chairs, large circular banquet tables, or centerpiece vases with elaborate fillers to decorate a large venue take up a lot of space but are also the key pieces of a party planners business. A good sized storage unit can be used to categorize and better manage the collection of themed decorations. Expensive and fragile items like the versatile glass vases that are used for so many different events can be securely stored without the risk of damage that often worries the budget-conscious planner working with highly sensitive brides. Additionally, a storage facility near their most frequented venues can cut down a lot of time, energy and stress when things don’t go as planned and a quick backup is needed.

Vending Machine Equipment Storage

Vending machine storageLocal suppliers such as vending machine equipment providers deal with large, heavy equipment. Unsold machines and extra servicing parts can be stored in a 10 by 10 unit and moved easier into trucks for delivery from storage facilities that have drive-up access. There is also the added benefit of peace of mind when choosing a storage facility that is equipped with additional security options like 24/7 video surveillance or individual unit alarms and alerts so that your  expensive machines are not easy vandalism targets.

Business File Storage

Every business has years of records and paperwork that needs to be stored. Even with the Business Files Storageexpanding need to go paperless, many businesses know how crucial having hard copies of important agreements can be in potential legal proceedings or if their company computers are hacked or infected with a virus. While the need to access these documents is unlikely, if the need does arise, being able to dig up a file in 7 years of storage boxes can become a costly and time consuming task. Storage units are a simple way to place these boxes sorted by year. Businesses can use the space to create a system of discarding older files as they replace them with more recent year documents.

Photographers and Videographers

Furniture studio storageBackdrops, photo booths, set furniture, studio props, lighting equipment and camera stands are all part of the creative workings of a photographer or videographer. For professionals who spend so much time on the road between events or shoots, being able to quickly provide a large selection of options to their clients means a better chance of securing a contract.

Storing Surplus Inventory

Keeping up with demands with on-hand inventory can be daunting, especially with unpredictable customer preferences. Storing additional inventory by stocking up gives owners and managers the leeway to purchase supplies in the off-season (often times at lower prices!) in preparation for their peak season demands.

Make Space for your Resolutions

Behind on your 2017 Resolutions? Here is how you can still clean up your act!

New Year’s Resolutions often are set at the peak of the excitement and celebration of the beginning of a year. Starting afresh with a positive mindset; working towards new goals as you make this year better than the one before. Unfortunately, as life happens, the path to meeting these resolutions is often abandoned. Since home organizing tends to be a common resolution, what better time to remind you how easy and simple meeting that goal can be?

Holiday Clutter Storage Solutions

Large lawn decorations that earned you the “best lights on the block” title, the hand-knitted sweater that your aunt gave you that would be unfashionable to wear in February but you can’t bear to donate, and those baking gadgets you thought you wanted to challenge Martha Stewart with beyond the holiday entertaining season are cluttering your relaxation space. It’s okay to set these things aside and get back your home to before the holiday chaos happened!

By temporarily putting away your spur-of-the-moment holiday collection, you will feel less stressed. As you feel more relaxed, your focus and energy recharges. And voila! You are back to thinking about your goals and how you plan on accomplishing them. So, don’t give up your dream of baking the triple-layered chocolate cake embellished with the Star Wars figurines you won as your white elephant gift. Just allow yourself some time and space by putting away the items which, at least at the moment, are causing anxiety every time your eyes catch them in the corner of your living room or in the garage as you drive off to work.

Self-storage facilities provide the perfect (and affordable!) place to safely store away the items you’re simply not ready to use yet. With many storage locations offering small locker units, closet-sized spaces, you will have the convenience of choosing the right space for your needs and budget plus access your belongings whenever you’re ready to kick-off your new year resolution! After all, the year has just begun!

If looking for a storage place in the San Fernando Valley near Van Nuys, QuikStor Self Storage for the best pricing on your unit rentals. Our brand new location is central to Northridge, Sherman Oaks and West Hills. It’s time to tackle your resolutions!

Need Help Choosing a Storage Unit?

Do you need help choosing a storage unit that fits your needs? If you are thinking about renting a storage unit, you are probably asking yourself a lot of questions: how much stuff will I be putting into storage? What size of storage unit do I need to store the stuff I have? Will I be putting more stuff into storage in the future? These are all legitimate questions and all of us here at QuikStor Self Storage are here to help answer all questions.

First thing is first, have you put your items in boxes or containers yet? When you pack away your belongings in containers and physically see them before you, you can have a better understanding of what size of storage unit you need. If you find that you have only a handful of containers and aren’t planning on putting more items into storage in the future then you may want to rent the smaller sized units, such as a 5×5 unit, 5×7.5 unit, and 5×10 unit.

If you are clearing out your garage or attic and have many boxes and items that you are placing into storage, then you will likely need a larger unit, such as a 8×10 unit, 10×10 unit, 10×15 unit, which can house many boxes, furniture, drawers, lamps, grandfather clocks, and wardrobes, just to name a few. This is perfect for heirlooms and other items sentimental to your family that you need preserved but have no room for. If you only need to have a few items in storage for the time being but are going to need to put more items in the near future, you may want to reserve a larger unit now to save you the hassle of moving from a smaller unit to a larger one in the future. Also packing the larger unit now can help you conceptualize where you want to place things so they are easily accessible to you when you visit your storage unit in the future to grab the items you need.

If you need advice or suggestions on what unit size to get for your belongings, you may speak to the manager on site here at QuikStor Self Storage, who would be more than happy to help. 10 COOL IDEAS TO BEAT THE HEAT THIS SUMMER

famous-summer-pool-tumblr-summer
Summer has arrived and with it comes the heat! Temperatures can spike, especially in the afternoons when the sun is straight overhead. Staying Cool is one of the most important things in the summertime for your health. Here are 10 Cool Ideas to beat the heat this summer.

1. Community Pool or Personal Pool – Pools are one of the best ways to beat the heat and get exercise! Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise and in the summer days, you can keep cool in the body of water as you wade of swim. If you don’t have the personal pool, there are community pools open to the public in the summer. Contact your local city council for more information on where your community’s pool is.

2. Ocean, River, and Lakes— Any major body of water supplied by nature will definitely help you stay cool and the greatest part is that access to them are free! Certain access points may require payment for parking by the local Parks and Rec services but otherwise, this is a low-cost venture. For the ocean you can boogie board or swim near the shore. For River and Lakes, you can swim but also take a raft and wade in the cool water.

3. Go to the Mall or Catch a Flick—The mall is free to attend and it blasts its air conditioning to keep its patrons cool. Or you can go to the cinemas to watch a film in the A/C and just escape for a few hours. A lot of great films are being released in the summertime to keep audiences entertained, including Finding Dory and Independence Day 2.

4. Make your Own Waterslide— You can make your very own waterslide with household products at home! If you have a tarp, you can lay it on soft grass and use your garden’s hose to cover it with water. The most important step is to add either shampoo or dish detergent because you need it to make it slippery to slide along easily, which you can easily buy at the local dollar store.

5. Run through Sprinklers— If you are watering your lawn, you can run through your sprinklers with your bathing suit and keep cool that way. Kids particularly love this activity and whatever water isn’t picked up by moving bodies can be absorbed by the grass.

6. Take a cold shower or a cold bath – This is my favorite way to cool down. I like to fill my bathtub with cool water, grab my rubber duckie and a magazine to read and lay there for an hour relaxing on a hot summer’s day. Also, taking a five minute cool-water shower helps too.

7. Slurpee, Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt – Eating chilly snacks like a Slurpee, Ice Cream, or Frozen Yogurt helps to cool you from the inside. Plus these snacks are delicious!

Many water parks have special discount days throughout the summer so if you contact your local water park, you can discover which days are cost-efficient.

9. Water Balloons – Water balloons and water guns are some of the best ways to getting wet while having fun! Kids love to have water fights and chasing one another while spraying water. Water guns and water balloons can be found for cheap, even in local dollar stores.

10. Ice Skating – Summer is the best time to visit the ice skating rink because of how cool it is in the inside of the building and also for how much fun it is to ice skate.
